My latest outings and travels
Out and About
- Newfoundland -
In June, I spent two weeks in Newfoundland, primarily searching for the Atlantic Puffins to enhance my wildlife portfolio. Ulli and I fondly recalled these birds from our first visit in 1985 during our four-year-long global bike journey. This time, instead of a loaded bike, I traveled with my camping and camera equipment in a rental car, heading to Cape Bonavista in the northeast of Canada’s easternmost province. My hopes of encountering these charming and photogenic birds were surpassed and I could spend hours observing and photographing the "clowns of the sea" up close. Another highlight of my trip was visiting the rugged coastline along Cape St. Mary’s in the island's south, home to tens of thousands of gannets.
